Video stream replacement

Video stream replacement is a feature that allows you to replace the real image from your webcam with pre-prepared media content: a video clip, static image, or GIF animation. At the same time, it is impossible for the target site or KYC system to detect such a replacement. Everything looks as if the image is coming from a real webcam.

Where it is used

  • When passing KYC and other video verifications

  • During video calls (to create a certain image)

  • In automation and testing when video stream simulation is required

How it works

Linken Sphere creates a virtual webcam that streams the file you select. This can be:

  • a video file (MP4, MOV, Y4M)

  • an image (JPG/JPEG, PNG)

  • a GIF animation (animated image).

A website or application that uses a camera will consider this media stream to be a "live" image from a real camera.

The feature is built into Linken Sphere and works "out of the box." No third-party software installation is required. Windows and macOS are supported.

Supported formats

  • Video: MP4, MOV, Y4M

  • Images: JPG/JPEG, PNG

  • Animation: GIF

Instructions for use

  1. Start a session in Linken Sphere

  2. Go to the website where you need to complete video verification

  3. In the upper right corner, click on the video camera icon

  4. Select the file for streaming

  5. Wait until the indicator stops flashing and starts glowing red continuously — this means that the video stream is ready

  6. Start the video verification process and give the website permission to use your webcam

Done!

The website will start seeing the file you selected as a video stream from your webcam.

Tips for use

  • Use high-quality and realistic materials — especially when passing KYC.

  • GIFs and images are suitable for scenarios with minimal activity.

  • We recommend using video, as static images are fairly easy to recognize.

  • When replacing the video stream, Linken Sphere converts the uploaded file to a suitable format, which may result in increased disk space consumption. If there is not enough space, the replacement will not start. After stopping the session, the temporary file will be deleted.

  • Avoid obvious editing transitions and splices - they may raise suspicion.
